During our April Social Media Collective we discussed how to re-purpose your content on all your social media platforms and one thing that stood out from the conversation was utilizing every piece of real estate on your platforms to create a call to action.
For instance…think about your business Facebook page and the cover photo. Don’t waste this valuable real estate on showcasing your gorgeous logo or headshot. Instead use it to build your business. Facebook is one of the platforms that gives you a system to market from your cover photo.
For my cover photo you can see that I am offering my services in my Facebook cover and you can click on the 'Sign Up' Button to learn more!
See what I mean by valuable real estate? You can use this space to advertise your new program, service or product. It’s a great way to welcome people into your page and business.
Facebook offers different options for you to use based on what you are using it for. Select the option that best works for your offer.
Focused on building your following? You can use this piece of real estate to introduce yourself and people can buy, sign up, learn more, etc. by clicking over to a page on your website where you can share even more content with them.
Want to advertise a webinar or a new program? Use this space to grab their attention. We promote webinars for clients using Facebook Headers
People visiting this Facebook business page, during the month of April, could click on the ‘sign up’ button and go right to the registration page for the webinar. Over 20% of their attendees last month heard about the Webinar from Facebook!
However, Facebook is not the only social media platform that offers good real estate. Think about your Twitter cover photo. Although Twitter doesn’t have a process like Facebook…you can put a link in your profile and instruct people in your graphic to click on the link in your profile.
Valuable real estate doesn’t just happen in graphics…think about your published posts on LinkedIn or your blog post on Medium…or how about your Facebook Note? All of these venues allow you to add text at the bottom of your posts to direct folks to grab your free eBook, or take a look at your new program or product.
Use these places to share a call to action, offers, and list building opportunities. Be strategic in your posting. Don’t throw things up haphazardly. Consistency in your strategy is what will make you successful. For instance on the webinar above, we built the entire strategy around getting people into this webinar; all the graphics were consistent on social media as well as the website.
Here's a little cheat sheet for you, “Social Media Real Estate,” to help you plan your strategy each month. Determine which platforms you can use and how they will support your strategy for the month / quarter.
If you’re just getting started, don’t let it overwhelm you. Pick one platform and start using it. As you become more comfortable in strategizing your real estate you can increase the platforms you want to invest in.
